Welcome to the World Health Organization (WHO) Demo Portal on Alcohol and Health (WHO Demo Portal). The WHO Demo Portal has been developed by the Management of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Team, located at the WHO Headquarters, in Geneva, Switzerland.


By accessing the WHO Demo Portal, the user agrees to these terms of use and disclaimers. Please read through them carefully. WHO reserves the right to update these terms of use and disclaimers without notice.


All the information contained within the various pages of the WHO Demo Portal is the exclusive property of WHO.  Such information is protected under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literature and Artistic works, under other international conventions and under national laws on copyright and neighboring rights.


Access to the WHO Demo Portal is provided to registered users only and is intended to serve exclusively as a sample for health professionals, institutions, and other organizations who might be interested in acquiring a license to use the WHO Demo Portal and/or adapt it as a derivative work  It is not permitted to copy, modify, publish, license or create derivative works from the WHO Demo Portal, or to disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to discover its source code without prior written permission from WHO. Extracts of the WHO Demo Portal may however be reviewed, reproduced or translated by registered users for testing and evaluation purposes only. No elements of the WHO Demo Portal, in part or in whole, including the name or emblem of WHO, may be used to promote any specific individual, entity or product, in any manner whatsoever, or for unlawful purposes.


Registered users interested in acquiring a license of the WHO Demo Portal are requested to contact msb@who.int for permissions. It will not be permitted to use the WHO Demo Portal or any part of it to develop a derivative work or a product that is to be sold or licensed for a fee, or in conjunction with commercial purposes in any manner whatsoever.


Although all reasonable precautions have been taken to verify the content contained in  the WHO Demo Portal, including in the Drink-Less self-help program being part of the WHO Demo Portal, WHO makes no warranties or representations regarding the content, presentation, appearance, completeness, accuracy or results obtained, including using the Drink-Less self-help program, and shall not be held liable for any damages whatsoever as a result of its use or application. The responsibility for the interpretation and use of the content lies with the reader and/or user. WHO reserves the right to make updates and changes without notice and accept no liability for any errors or omissions in this regard.


WHO accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any inaccurate advice or information that is provided by sources reached via links or references to the content of the WHO Demo Portal.


The WHO Demo Portal may contain links to other Internet pages. With regard to these third-party websites, WHO has no control whatsoever over the content of the linked pages. WHO therefore shall not be held responsible whatsoever for the content of a page to be reached via such a link and shall not be held liable for any damages arising from their use. WHO reserves the right to make changes or additions, without prior notification, to the links provided.


The designations employed and the presentation of content on the WHO Demo Portal, including maps and other illustrative materials, do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of WHO concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area, or of its authorities, or concerning the delineation of frontiers and borders.


The mention of specific companies or of certain manufacturers' products does not imply that they are endorsed or recommended by WHO in preference to others of a similar nature that are not mentioned.


WHO attaches the highest priority to the protection privacy. Any third party information obtained by WHO from an individual's use or interaction with the WHO Demo Portal will be treated confidentially.

In order to access the WHO Demo Portal, registered users have been provided with a username and a password which will not allow for WHO and/or the system to identify such registered users in any manner whatsoever. However, registered users will be asked to provide personal information such as their reported alcohol consumption when testing and evaluating the Drink-Less self-help program. This information will be collected only with the registered users’ knowledge and permission and will not be personally identifiable. WHO does not use or redistribute this information in anyway, and the information will be deleted permanently after seven days.

For this WHO Demo Portal, registering or supplying personal information sets a cookie. By setting this cookie, WHO will remember details of users the next time they visit, so they don’t have to re-enter the information. This helps WHO to provide users with a better service.

During general browsing of the WHO Demo Portal, WHO also gathers information from standard server logs. These include IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, domain names, browser types, operating systems, and information such as the web site that referred the registered user to the WHO Demo Portal, the files registered users download, the pages visited, and the dates/times of those visits. The information gathered during general browsing is used to analyze trends and usage of the WHO Demo Portal and to improve the usefulness of the site. It is not connected with any personal information. The automatically compiled log files contain no personal data on individual users.

At any time, registered users can cancel or modify their information by returning to the web page where they first provided the information and by contacting the site administrator referencing this page. Where contact details are not provided on the page, registered users can contact msb@who.int for further information.

WHO does not sell or share any information volunteered on the WHO Demo Portal to any third party. Any information provided to WHO by registered users of this WHO Demo Portal is held with the utmost care and security, and will not be used in ways other than as set forth herein, or in ways to which registered users have explicitly consented.
